Every other year, with the Archbishop's approval, a new deacon formation class is formed. The age guideline for men applying to the permanent diaconate is between 32 and 58. He may be single or married. If married, his wife is invited to participate in formation with him, but it is not required. A day care is offered during the formation classes for those who have young children. A man considering the permanent diaconate must be a faithful practicing Catholic, have a committed prayer life, and be acting out his baptismal call to service.
